Michael Grecco – Lighting and the Dramatic Portrait – Interview & Review

Celebrity portrait photographer Michael Grecco has released an ebook titled Lighting and the Dramatic Portrait. It showcases some of his best work, describes, in great detail, how he captured the shots with diagrams, and he gives the backstory about what was involved in making the shots a success. It is very different from other photography books out there on the subject of photography lighting, because the book discusses so much more.

If you like to photograph people, this is definitely a book you want to pick up. I had the chance to chat with Michael again to hear his thoughts on the ebook, why he created it, and what you’ll learn when you get it.

You can buy the ebook by going straight to Michael Grecco’s website here, or on Amazon here.

And if you do plan to buy it, or if you already own it, let me know in the comments below. Also, please tell me if you would like more of these types of interviews.

Lastly, you can also follow Michael Grecco on Facebook here and on Twitter here.

Your Rights as a Photographer

If you have ever been stopped by the police (or any other authority figure) while shooting in public, this is a video you want to watch. I almost got arrested while photographing a riot years ago in the Midwest; the police officer told me to stop shooting. I refused, because I knew my rights. And even after I told him what those rights were, he didn’t care.

No matter how many articles are written by attorneys that state the rights of photographers, there will always be authority figures who are misinformed. The video above is a clever cartoon put out by the ACLU and hitRECord to protect the rights of photographers. It applies to photographers in the USA – or those visiting the USA from elsewhere who are not shooting commercial projects.

Take a look. If you enjoyed it, let me know your thoughts below. And feel free to share this page with your photographer friends so that they know how to defend themselves if a situation arises. We need to stick together as photographers to ensure our rights are protected.
